XL bag of Cheetos girl, I salute you.

Being in school again has been surprisingly enjoyable and I have to give salt lake community college a high five for being way better than I expected.

I drive to school in the terrible commuting traffic every morning to arrive at my 8:00AM class which last for exactly 3 hours and 40 minutes. It is a Mexican American culture class and I am loving it! It is so interesting and the time seriously flies by.

A funny thing that I have noticed though is how different the students dress and behave. No offense to any of my classy U of U friends, but it's kind of refreshing to see a little mom-jeans action, white eye shadow and black eye liner combo, and head-to-toe sports jersey things. It kind of takes the pressure off of me to get all gussied up at 6:30AM.

Ok, so about the Cheetos. This is so mean. Be prepared.

There is a very overweight female in my class and when I first noticed her, I noticed her weight. This is a bad habit of mine....kind of assessing who else is overweight in the room. I'm trying to get over this but sometimes you can't help but notice extremely overweight people. I was thinking to myself how much more compassion I have for overweight females because in my case, you would probably assume that I eat out everyday, I rarely if ever work out, and that I don't really care much if I am overweight.

I have learned that people can become overweight from strange diseases and yes, there are people in rare instances who eat very little and still weigh over 200 pounds.

So I was thinking about how differently I perceive overweight people since being diagnosed with my thyroid disease. I was looking on this female with compassion. Until she busted out a HUGE and I mean HUGE bag of Cheeto's at 9:00 in the morning and just ate them shamelessly.

So, to the girl who eats Cheeto's, I salute you.

When I am fat, I notice that I kind of get shy about eating certain foods in front of people, like they will judge me. Well this week I was totally the judger and thought, oh, well, she doesn't have a disease, she just eats bad food!

This all may be true but I respect that this girl was shamelessly eating a family size bag of Cheetos while sitting on the front row and didn't seem to care if anyone was judging her for being an overweight woman chowing down on Cheetos. That is so brave of her. I want to have that kind of confidence- not that I ever plan to eat a family size bag of Cheeto's during class- but have the kind of confidence to just own whatever it is I'm going to eat no matter who is watching. Sometimes I will eat things in secret so no one will judge me, but I hope to get to a point with myself that I am comfortable with who I am and what I look like that I am not doing or not doing anything for show or anyone else.

The end.

PS school has taken over my life, sorry for no posts in awhile. Get used to it I suppose!

  2. I love it! Total honesty. =) I'm the same way, wondering if people judge me for what I am eating, but one day, hopefully soon, it won't matter as much. Love you!
