I have a streak of food snob in me. I blame it on the fact that I worked at the Rockefeller's private guest ranch for a summer and survived on the same food they fed the Rockefellers. You know, the regular kind of stuff like filet bernaise, nut crusted trout, rum bread pudding, game hens, and lots of prawns.
Dan and I were lucky enough to spend our first anniversary in Park City where we were able to use our gift card to Ruths Chris. If you've never been there, it's the kind of place where you open the menu and see meals priced at $83. You pay for your entree, sides, salads, and desserts separately. It's also the kind of place where you think it was worth every penny.
We went to Ruths Chris AGAIN last night to celebrate our anniversary a day early. The filet mignon with blue cheese and panko crust was divine. The sides were not worth blogging about. (probably because we didn't get the asparagus with hollandaise sauce) But the cheesecake is worth mentioning. It had a sweet cream topping, fresh berries, and came on a chilled plate that had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate.
I'm not so sure that my 2 mile run yesterday will even make a dent in last night's amazing dinner. I'm not sure sure the my 2 mile run AND the fact that I only consumed a blackberry green smoothie all day before the dinner will make a dent. It's the morning after and I still feel like I have a food hangover.
The best part, is that it was worth it and I still have a piece of their flourless chocolate cake with ganache to consume later. Oh the joys of trying to lose weight! This is life and sometimes there are little speed bumps in my progress and accepting the fact that these are part of the journey is a lot more productive than agonizing over how many calories I consumed.
Here's to starting off the week trying to recover from the most amazing dinner of the year. Thanks Ruths Chris. My tight jeans are only a reminder of how freaking awesome your steak and cheesecake are.
