So I can't decide if I want to update at the end of the night or in the morning when I'm fresh and witty. For now I'll update each night but it might turn into a report on the previous day. I feel my triceps while typing, along with my forearms, well my entire arm actually. Today was awesome. I'll finish up yesterday with adding an hour of jogging with some walking last night. My sweet husband came along for the ride and we explored our new neighborhood. He walked but I would jog a block or so and then jog back to him with some walking in between. Dinner was a no go, but I did have 3 more of my delicious huge chewy chocolate chip cookies and milk. I made one dozen the other day and gave half to the neighbor and successfully put the remaining 5 away in my stomach yesterday. I think I have made peace with chocolate chip cookies. I have actually only made them once in the last year and they are probably my favorite cookie. Dan doesn't like them so I have no excuse to make them which is probably ok.
Let's talk about Saturday. Dan was doing a practice test for the GRE and wanted his favorite breakfast of Pillsbury orange rolls. I had never had baked goods from a can until a few weeks ago when he came to the grocery store with me (which is a rare treat) and he got mesmerized by the orange rolls and told me how his Dad used to make them for him and sometimes if there was an extra one left over he would get it. How could I resist getting four cans of these for my precious Daniel who was standing in the grocery store admiring with both hands this can of orange rolls? He is so easy to please so it's nice to have a few special treats for him besides pretzels. He usually eats all of them. In one sitting. Yeah, I'm married to that guy, the skinny one who can consume 1500 calories for breakfast. I've had 1 bite of 1 each time I make them. I've never had a whole one. Today was the day. I had an entire orange roll and then half of another one. I've always been jealous of Dan who eats all of them because they smell so good and I imagine sinking my teeth into some warm gooey orange yummy thing. To be honest they weren't nearly as delicious as they look and they didn't really leave me satisfied like some of my other typical breakfast creations. I had to pull out my remaining spinach drink to satisfy me and then have a glass of milk. I guess I made peace with orange rolls even though I'm not sure I can really ever say I had a problem with them. I went to zumba and shook it like a polaroid picture and had a lot of fun doing it. Dan and I spent the rest of the day deep cleaning and organizing our house which eventually took us to the store to get some organizational supplies. I asked him what he wanted to do for lunch- go home, use one of my millions of coupons...of course he picked use a coupon for WINGER'S! We haven't been to Winger's since the first month we were married. I decided to order something I had only seen others order- Sticky Fingers. Yeah yeah, I'm kind of a foodie and kind of like bad-for-you food, but deep down there's something inside of me that just screams DON'T DO IT, IT'S NOT WORTH IT When it comes to a few things. Fried chicken strips drenched in super sweet wing sauce is one of them. I can't do it. I've wanted to. I've eyed my little sister's every time she eats them and even made her share a few bites, but I just can't bring myself or order it for myself. I'm the same way with beverages. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've ordered a beverage other than water or diet soda. I just can't bring myself to consume that many calories through a straw. Even though I walked on the wild side and ordered whatever the heck I wanted from the menu (see food diary below) I still couldn't order a soda or flavored lemonade.
After lunch Dan and I came back and did more work on the house and then I practiced for a good hour or so and then realized it was 9:15. The last thing I wanted to do was go running or put in a work out DVD. The only reason I did was because of this blog I decided to start. I couldn't fail on the second day!! I had to at least do my workouts even though it was late. I put on my workout clothes which included squeezing into this lime green wick-dry shirt from my skinny days and then being really grateful it is pitch dark outside. The fashion police would have arrested me on the spot. This shirt was so tight and so unflattering, in fact I don't know why I spent 30 minutes jogging in it. Woof. I did 30 minutes of sprints and boy oh boy was this hard. I've been doing the slow jog thing for a few weeks and was feeling pretty good about myself until I decided to do sprints. Dan was keeping time for me and cheered me on but seriously, running in a dead sprint is for people in short shorts with muscular legs that probably wear football pads on Friday nights. Not for me, but my workout on my cool new app called "Daily Burn" told me to do it so I did. After 30 minutes of feeling like a sausage trying to squeeze out of my lime green casing, I did the rest of the workout and that all took me 50 minutes. I am the queen. So I'm going to post my awesome food journal again so that one of these days I can look back and try to remember what it tasted like to eat such fat laden foods.
Breakfast 1.5 Orange Rolls, 1 Cup skim milk, 1 cup spinach power
Lunch 1 Potato skin, a few handfuls of popcorn, 1 Sticky Finger, 2 Wings, 1 standard size of Winger's fries with plenty of creamy buffalo sauce to dip, 2 sips of Dan's rootbear
Dinner Ok, ok, I baked the rest of the cookie dough so I could freeze the cookies for later which was another 15 cookies and I had about a tablespoon of dough and then one of the mini cookies because it just didn't belong with the rest of the average sized cookies
Once I start counting real calories which will probably be Monday after my awesome sushi birthday dinner at Happy Sumo, I'll post a grand total. I'm sure this grand total is higher than any calorie calculator could handle.
